WORLD ADVENTURE : MUMMIES

The Sims 3 Mummies

How to Get a Mummy in World Adventures

The Sims 3 World Adventures: A Sim being Cursed by a Mummy
Mummies are new to the Sims 3 through the World Adventures expansion pack. They are ancient kings preserved and wrapped in cloth, guarding their treasures from Adventurous tomb-raiding Sims. In this article, we'll learn all about mummies and how you can avoid them, heal your Sim if they are cursed, or even get a mummy of your very own.
Mummies: Where Are They?
Mummies have been sighted in all three countries but are most commonly found in Al Simhara, Egypt as one might expect. The pyramids there all have a chance to spawn mummies. The great pyramid is fully explorable with Pangu's Axe and has so many sarcophagus you're likely to bump into at least one.
Found One! Now What!
They'll usually attack your Sim on sight. Thankfully, they're not fast so running from them is an option. You'll sometimes find fire traps nearby which can kill them as well (only non-player mummies are killed by fire traps). Mummy snacks, kept in the inventory, can act as a deterrent and give your Sim a chance to have a look inside the sarcophagus. If it does come to blows, there are three options: You win (martial artist, athletic), you lose (knocked out), you lose (Sims is hit with the Mummy's Curse).
The Sims 3 World Adventures: Dying from the Mummy's Curse
The Mummy's Curse
The Mummy's Curse will affect a Sim for 14 days. Two full weeks with a -25 moodlet is a bummer, but even worse is that once the clock has wound down, your Sim will die. With two full weeks, you have multiple options to consider for removal of the curse:
Sleep in a Blessed Sarcophagus of Kings
If you happen to have one, do it. This will remove the curse after sleeping in it for several hours. There is one to be found within the Sphinx, but if you're there you might as well visit the Soulpeace Statue.
Kiss a King Cobra
Buy a Snake Charming Basket from the general goods merchant in Al Simhara. Practice with the basket until the option to buy a cobra for $1,000 Simoleons comes up. Buy it, then keep practicing until your Sim is able to kiss the cobra. This will remove the curse and give your Sim a positive moodlet instead. Since the basket is portable, this is a great option.
Pleading to the Sphinx to remove the Mummy Curse in the Sims 3 World Adventures
The Great Sphinx
This is my favored way of removing the curse. Shortly after being cursed, if you have no other opportunities in Egypt, you'll get an adventure called Cursed!. While you don't have to do the adventure to gain entry to the Sphinx, you can turn it into a nice way to earn some extra VISA points. Not only are you treated to an impressive visual display by the Great Sphinx, you'll also unlock a good place to come back and collect tons of gems later.
Inside the Sphinx, the puzzles aren't too hard. You'll work your way down, through a lower level, then back up where you can ascend to the soulpeace chambers. Once there, you can have your Sim seek cleansing by clicking the statue. A little ritual will occur, where your Sim meditates and hovers in midair. Then, in a burst of energy and a transference of power from the Soulpeace, your Sim's curse is lifted.
The Sims 3 World Adventures: Getting Cleansed by the Soulpeace Statue inside the Great Sphinx of Al Simhara, Egypt
Be sure to check behind the Soulpeace Statue for a hidden room where you'll frequently find Soulpeace Gems.
Cheat
Another option to remove the mummy's curse is to utilize cheats. Open the command console by pressing Ctrl + Shift + C and type testingcheatsenabled true. This will allow you to control-click a moodlet to remove it instantly.
Moodlet Manager
Owners of the Moodlet Manager Lifetime Reward will note that it removes the mummy's curse, along with other ailments suffered while adventuring.
How to Get a Mummy: The Free Mummy Method
This way is the best, as it won't require your Sim transform at all. In fact, you'll get a free mummy that you can control. Here's how: assemble a collection of 5 canopic jars. Once you've got them all, you can place them into a Sarcophagus. They'll be transmuted into a mummy for your control.
Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to a 100% success rate. You'll need to hit up plenty of Egyptian Tombs to find the Canopic Jars, because they are found only there. Note that only the Canopic Jars that count toward a set will work. The regular jars you find are just loot to sell. You can check that you're using the right ones by noting that the jars are not in the stack with your other Egyptian loot.
The Sims 3 World Adventures: The Blessed and Cursed Sarcophagus of Kings along with a Mummy
Method Two: Turn Your Sim into a Mummy
This method requires you to assemble a Cursed Sarcophagus of Kings. Sleeping inside one of them will raise your Sim's athletic skill. The "drawback" here, is that your Sim will eventually be cursed and turn into a mummy. It takes about 16 hours of sleeping to cause this. The way to reverse this is to sleep in a Blessed Sarcophagus for 8 or more hours.
Cheating
The 2nd method can be completed with cheats by doing the following:
  1. Ctrl+shift+C
  2. type testingcheatsenabled true
  3. type buydebug
  4. Find the two sarcophagus types in sort by function - buy debug - miscellaneous objects
  5. turn up your sim's other needs by clicking and dragging the needs bar
  6. fully deplete energy
  7. sleep in the Cursed Sarcophagus of Kings
  8. repeat 6 and 7
Taking Care of Your Mummy
Mummies have steel bladders and never need to use the toilet. Additionally, they get infinite energy, so they can work all night taking breaks only to eat. They also age slowly, thus leading longer lives. After all, they're undead. The drawback to being a mummy is that they can't have children, and are killed instantly by fire, such as from cooking and fireplaces. They're safe from fire traps in adventure tombs, so they can be safely used to explore.

WORLD ADVENTURE : MARTIAL ARTS

The Sims 3 Martial Arts Guide

Learn about Sim Fu in the World Adventures Expansion

The Sims 3 World Adventures Martial Arts Guide - Learn Sim Fu. This shot shows my Sim meditating atop the Temple of Heaven
This guide to the Sims 3 World Adventures' Martial Arts will instruct you on getting your Sims started learning Sim Fu. We'll learn a lot about this skill and how it benefits Sims in many ways. Tips will be provided to help your Sim learn the skill more effectively and how to better utilize it to kick butt, win Martial Arts Tournaments, and use Zeneport and Tranquil Transference. This skill requires the Sims 3's World Adventures expansion pack to be learned, as it can only be started in Shang Simla, China, a travel destination.
Sim Fu is very useful for adventuring. High level Martial Arts allows them to teleport around Tombs with ease and even go toe to toe with mummies. I highly recommend China as an early adventurer's first stomping grounds so they can begin developing this highly useful skill. At only level 5 you can learn to Zeneport, which can get your Sim out of sticky situations and past nasty traps within tombs.
Martial Arts in The Sims 3 is tied very heavily to the Athletic skill for fighting and fatigue, so Sims with the Athletic traitwill benefit greatly. Keep this in mind when designing your Sim.
Depending on your Sim's level, they'll wear one of eight martial arts uniforms (from the ten skill levels a couple are shared). It follows the belt color ranking system used by Karate and Kung Fu. Colors get darker and darker until the Sim is a black belt, and eventually wears a black Karate Gi with gold belt.
A beginner at Sim Fu in World Adventures
How to Learn Sim Fu in The Sims 3 - Getting Started
First know, that while athletic also aids in Martial Arts development, the disciplined trait will benefit their skill gains the most. To learn the Martial Arts skill, take a trip to Shang Simla, China. There you'll find numerous options for learning the skill for the first time. I don't recommend the skill book, which can be bought from the book dealer at the Chinese Market. The Phoenix Martial Arts Academy is the best place to start. After all, while learning the skill you could be making progress toward completing challenges rather than reading a book.
A sparring Session in the Sims 3 World Adventures

At the academy in Shang Fu, China, your Sim can start with the training dummies. Gain just a few levels and you'll be able to break boards and blocks. It's not a bad idea to switch to this after the training dummies, because there is no challenge for training dummies and the time they've been used isn't even in the skill journal. Sparring, available as an action against any Sim who knows the martial arts skill, is another option. If your Sim has learned the Charisma skill, they'll likely make a few friends out of sparring partners. Either way, you'll be sparring a lot or breaking tons of blocks to complete the challenges, so neither avenue is a waste of time.
Using a Training Dummy to raise the Martial Arts skill in the Sims 3 World Adventures
Training Your Sim's Martial Arts Back Home
You can purchase training dummies and blocks at the general store in the Market. Doing so will place the equipment in your Sim's family inventory, where you can then place it on your home lot. This opens up the ability to practice Sim Fu outside of China. Additionally, you can train Sims back home in Martial Arts once you're of sufficient level (requires training dummy). This is a great option for rich Sims who need something to do in between trips. Now get out there andschool Molly French in Sim Fu.
Breaking Blocks in the Sims 3 World Adventures with Sim Fu
Block Breaking - Sim Fu Skill Profit
Breaking blocks is a great way to work on Martial Arts and eventually make money. There are lots of happiness points to be gained this way. Stick with a lower level block to ensure your training session isn't interrupted by an injured hand. That is, until your Sim starts getting good at it. If they can break five of one type of block or board, it's time to move up to the next one.
While working toward the Timber Terminator challenge, and subsequent wishes to break X amount of blocks, stick with the oak boards. Your Sim won't gain skill as quickly, but should be able to bust many more, upping their count. Higher numbers also seem to help the rate your Sim can break space rocks later.
With Timber Terminator, your Sim will likely see block breaking as a perfectly viable, if random way to make money. See the Martial Arts Challenges section.
Using Zeneport to zip to another location in the world is one of the cooler features of the Sims 3 World Adventures' Martial Arts Skill.
Meditation - How to Meditate in The Sims 3
Meditation is available as a training option at level 5 in the Martial Arts skill. If you wonder how, just click your Sim and pick meditate. It won't raise athletics, but don't let that stop you. Meditation can satisfy the fun need, and removes a number of negative moodlets. Once your Sim has meditated long enough, they will receive a Meditative Focus that increases skill gains and work quality in all other skills for up to four hours. Once they've maxed out, they'll start hovering in midair. Very cool stuff. It takes a little over 3 and 1/2 hours to reach this point.
Once your Sim has unlocked the meditation ability, they will be able to Zeneport once they've reached the hovering state of meditation. This will remove the Meditative Focus moodlet, but sends your Sim on a trip to any location that's visible to you. Use your imagination and this ability will serve you well. For example, you may get past some traps and even skip entire sections of a Tomb to reach the end without bothering with puzzles. It gets better -- read on to learn about The Master of Meditation Skill Challenge and Tranquil Transference.
Don't Forget Athletics
Athletics and Martial arts go hand in hand. As your Sim trains martial arts, they'll gradually raise Athletics as well. However, meditating can cause athletics to fall behind. Spend some time on the tradmill or weight bench to help the skill keep pace. The Athletics challenge for doing 60 hours of strength training is highly recommended. It will remove the fatigue your Sim experiences when board breaking. Being tougher is helpful overall for winning fights, as well.
The Sims 3 World Adventures Screenshot: Sparring another Sim to raise the Martial Arts Skill
The Benefit of Sparring and Tournaments
The primary purpose for Sparring, beyond helping your Sim to make friends and raise the Martial Arts skill, is to be able to defend yourself. This will most often come into play when raiding tombs in Al Simhara. If your Sim has been in plenty of sparring matches, and possibly even become a Grand Master, they'll do well against the mummies there. They can fight them hand to hand and avoid the trickery and cowardice other Sims need employ. The more practice sparring you have, the better you'll be.
While in Shang Simla, you can challenge other Sims using Call Sim from the cell phone. You'll fight a ranked tournament opponent. If you can clear twenty of them, your Sim will become a Grand Master. Do this while at the vacation home you've purchased or from the base camp. If your Sim is up to snuff, they can likely clear at least three or four opponents if they can dedicate a day to sparring.
If you're having trouble winning, despite being high level in Martial Arts, turn to sparring to improve your odds. Your Sim likely just needs more experience.

Sims 3 Martial Arts Challenges

Fight plenty of ranked matches in Shang Simla to become a Grand Master in Martial Arts.
Grand Master
This Challenge is completed after winning 20 ranked matches against sparring opponents. This will allow your Sim to train other Sims in Martial Arts at an accelerated rate.
Master of Meditation - Instant Teleportation
After Meditating for 150 hours, Sims learn to use Tranquil Transference, the replacement for Zeneport. This is instant site to site teleportation that does not expend the Meditative Focus moodlet. It does deplete it by about a half hour each time it's used, but you should be able to get multiple teleports out of a single meditation session. What's more, you don't need to max out your Meditative Focus in order to use this. It cuts the time from 3 and 1/2 hours to teleport all the way down to 1 and 1/2. You'd only get one teleport out of it, but sometimes that's all you need. Its uses are endless, and are mighty helpful for collecting. Not only that, but for dungeons as well. No need to mess with the puzzle to safely reach the treasure chest, you can teleport there if you can see it. This is probably the single coolest perk of the Martial Arts skill. Effectively, you're cheating without cheating.
You may still revert to using Zeneport if you need. I'm unsure what having a high number of hours spent meditating does for Sims. Nothing seems to break through that 3 and 1/2 hour time frame to max out except the Loner trait.
Also, meditating in Shang Simla's Scholar's Garden will reduce the time it takes to meditate, but will only be useful in that travel destination.
A sparring screenshot from the Sims 3 World Adventures
Sim Fu King
After 75 sparring matches, win or lose, your Sim will complete this challenge. It seemingly helps them to do better at sparring and fights in the game. No big suprise, as they have a lot of experience after 75 matches.
Timber Terminator
This challenge turns Martial Arts into a viable money-making skill. After breaking 150 blocks or boards, your Sim will be able to get gems from breaking space rocks. This is flat awesome, as the gem qualities are really random and you can end up with plenty of pink diamonds. Work on breaking oak boards to complete it faster. Breaking more and more boards, and the Athletics challenge to do 60 hours of strength training both aid your Sim's endurance. The Athletics challenge eliminates the fatigue from breaking entirely.
Not only can you get the regular gems from the Sims 3 and World Adventures by block breaking, you'll also likely find Ambitions' Palmstone. Unfortunately, Woohooim is harder to collect.

WORLD ADVENTURE : FRANCE

The Sims 3 France World Adventures Guide

Tombs, Relic Collections, Nectar, and Adventures in Champs Les Sims

Champs Les Sims, France is a travel destination introduced with The Sims 3 World Adventures. It's the home of the new expansion skill, nectar making, with a countryside full of harvestables to gather. In fact, you can find nearly every new type of fruit offered by World Adventures in France. Look to the plant list for information on finding these, as well as rare grapes. While there aren't a lot of tombs to explore without following adventures, there's a lot of treasure to be found in the old ruins and catacombs of this land.

What France Brings to The Sims 3 World Adventures

The Sims 3 World Adventures France: French Marketplace
Stores in France
  • Bookstore: Recipes for Bouillabaisse, Cheese Plate, Frog Legs and Crepes are sold here. Additionally, you can learn the bait for Frogs, Crawfish, and Snails. There's a nectar skill book sold here, but you probably should just stick with raising the skill the old fashioned way rather than purchasing this. Additionally, you'll find region-specific books for Sims to read.

  • Food Vendor: Chrimola Blan and Renoit Grapes are sold here. At the appropriate meal times, Sims can also find Crepes, Frog Legs, and Bouillabaisse.

  • General Goods: The only two special items here are the Kenspa scooter and Little Boy Soldier incense holder. The Kenspa is a pretty zippy way to get around and the incense holder helps improve romantic interactions.

  • Nectary: Nectar racks are sold for $550 and $1,200 Simoleons here. Nectar Makers cost a whopping $1,500. Consider paying for the most expensive rack as it ages nectars better. You may also want more than one Nectar Maker.

France is the home to Nectar Making, a new skill and way to make money introduced with World Adventures. Sims get a moodlet for drinking nectar, and it can be aged in nectar racks stored in basements and sold for big profit. For the full skinny on this new skill, see the Nectar Making Guide.

Good Adventures to Pursue while Traveling in France

    A Trivial Affair
This is the opening adventure for France, and can lead you to your first Signet and the Forgotten Burial Mound (Celtic Ruins). It's an adventure you'll probably eliminate first, and getting it out of the way is good because it helps to open up bigger, better things later. If your Sim is adventurous, completing this chain will be enough work to allow them to reach Visa Level 1. Also, you can find the Signet of the King's Burial Ground along the way.
    The Search Begins
This Chain will lead your Sim to Chateau du Landgraab for the first time. It's an important part of adventuring in France because several other quests will take you there. You'll gradually unlock more and more of the mansion as you proceed. This chain is great and awards an awesome amount of VISA points for the time taken.
    The New Nectar Machine
This adventure chain sends your Sim after Titanium, and whether you complete the entire chain it's worth pursuing it. All titanium on the map will be revealed, and you can grab some extra money by collecting more than you need to complete it.
    Landgraab I: Kidnapper?
A good chain that leads to two locations at Chateau du Landgraab. It'll unlock another significant portion of the "tomb" and provides the opportunity to get unlimited gold, as you'll be given an adventure to collect some on the third step, which allows you to gather more than you need. Chateau Crawl leads to the side entrance of the estate, which clears the rest of it. The final section can only be accessed by starting an adventure chain in China.
    Trouble at the Museum
This adventure chain will lead your Sim to the Museum Catacombs under La Gallerie d'Art. The place seems to be explorable without this adventure, but if you're going to tackle it anyway, you should pick this up to snag some VISA points for your Sims. It will also reveal some treasure to be found at the cemetery which can be quite valuable.
    Surveying the Property
Take this to gain access to the secret garden, a small area which features no collectible relics but does offer some excellent treasure. I found a rainbow gem here worth $2,000 Simoleons.
    More Like "Haunted Garden"
This comes after surveying the property, but may not be worth the effort. It will however reveal to you that it's possible to get pomegranates in France. Look to the plant list for where to find them. The trouble is there is only one pomegranate tree available to harvest, so it may take several days' vacation time to gather enough. It's one you could remember to turn in later, after a trip to Egypt, where Pomegranates are sold by the food vendor.
    Nectar Research Assistant Needed
This adventure begins a very long line that will lead your Sim deeper and deeper into the Nectary Cellars. It's highly recommended as there are multiple French Sigils that are only accessible by doing this chain. Unfortunately, it does require a trip to Egypt to complete, meaning some travel time is involved, but it's the only way to access the Tomb of Isael and the Tomb of Jean Necteaux. If you do this adventure after clearing some other tombs, it will be a very fast trip to Egypt that results in a Visa level increase for that destination. You could then choose to stay and try to get level two.

Tombs to Explore in Champs Les Sims, France

The Sims 3 World Adventures France: Chateau Du Landgraab
    Chateau du Landgraab
This massive mansion is probably the most difficult place to explore in the Sims 3 World Adventures, due to the large number of traps and sheer size. It's easy to get lost, so I hope to help with the various puzzles that present themselves as you proceed through the adventures that unlock more and more of the estate. Thankfully, the Chateau behaves like a tomb and will gradually reveal rooms so it's easier to tell where you've visited. Later trips become more challenging as you must skim around looking for the entrance to the next section.

    The Lost Library of Landgraab
You'll need to disarm traps to even enter the building through the back entrance. The hall with traps is in accessible at first. Look for an accessible doorway with a series of stairs. Your Sim will pass the oddly placed entrance to the Landgraab Cellars, which are only accessible through an adventure from
China. Up top, you'll find a relic for one of your collections. The only other area you can access at first is the library (near the front entrance of the house), using the keystone you were given upon accepting the adventure. Tip: Move the statue back, then over the floor trap to clear it. The papers are nearby, along with a couple of non-collection relics. The sparkles leading to the stereo should give you a clue that turning it on will disarm the traps blocking your Sim's way.
    The Groundskeeper's Journal
Very easy. If your Sim already has a heart keystone they can enter the door out front of the shack outside the Chateau. It's not worth skipping the stairs out back, which lead to a keystone and relic (non-collectible).
    Chateau Crawl
Use your Keystone to the Landgraab Ballroom on the door to the right side of Chateau du Landgraab (if viewed from the front). Turning on the stereo inside will reveal panels where you should push the four statues in the center of the room. This not only allows progress to the second floor of the estate, but opens some shortcuts as well. Be sure to find the hidden door (an inspectable wall on the side opposite that of the staircase to the third floor), and look closely at surfaces for relics and other items which can be collected. A nice part about adventuring in the Chateau at this stage is that all your needs can be met without consuming any supplies. In the room with the hole and railing where you can see the first floor, look for a foot panel allowing you to proceed to a couple more scattered foot panels which eventually disarm the traps on the third floor. With that done, the second floor of the Chateau is completely clear. A small portion of the third is accessible now (the rest only with the Cellars keystone).
Signet of Le Chateau du Landgraab
For those looking to complete their French Tombs relic collection, know that the final area (cellars) is only accessible by doing the Knowledge of the Past adventure chain which begins in Shang Simla, China.
The Sims 3 World Adventures France: Celtic Burial Mound
Forgotten Burial Mound (Celtic Ruins, Smuggler's Cavern and Maze of the High Ruler)
Your Sim will be led here during the 'A Trivial Affair' Adventure Chain, which will likely be the first one you pursue in France. Inside you'll find at least two random relics for your collection while you learn the basics of adventuring. You'll need to clear rubble, push and pull statues, stand on floor switches, and inspect holes to make your way through. Remember that mourning at tombstones can also reveal hidden switches, holes and other mechanisms that may offer your Sim extra treasure. Be sure to look for hidden doors off the hedge 'maze' and the final room to collect more treasure and the Signet of the King's Burial Ground.
Behind the mound, there's a foot switch which reveals the Smuggler's Cave. It's a rather short and easy tomb that has its own Signet at the end. You don't need any adventures to get this one, so it's a side trip you can complete whenever your Sim has spare time. The other switch is only accessible with Pangu's Axe. Smash the boulder to reveal a switch so your Sim can descend the other staircase. This is the Maze of the High Ruler tomb, and again has a Signet.
The Sims 3 World Adventures France: La Gallerie d'Art
    La Gallerie d'Art: Museum Catacombs
To gain entry to the catacombs, look to the hole in the wall on the first floor near the chinese artifacts. There's a stairwell leading down there. The switch in the hole reveals a hidden door on the other side of the wall. If you're stuck upon entry, try pulling the torch on the wall in the first room. Upon reaching the hall with three statues, pull the only movable statue off its floor plate, then push it to the other plate in the corner. This will unlock a door down the hall which allows you to collect the French Signet of the Museum Catacombs. It will also turn the original floor plate into a foot switch, allowing your Sim to get out and reach the final room. Look for another relic for your collection as your Sim leaves the tomb.
The Sims 3 World Adventures France: Nectary
Nectary Cellar / Tomb of Isael / Tomb of Jean Necteaux
In order to get inside initially, you'll need to search for the hidden door. The Nectar Research Assistant Needed Adventure must also be pursued to get progressively further in. Look for two hidden doors inside this place. The first is in the room with two large rocks, the second in the hall just before the room with the Nectar bottle you need. The second of these hides the French Signet of the Nectary Cellar. Once you've traveled to Egypt through the adventure chain, the Tomb of Isael will be unlockable via its keystone. Look for it on the pedestal in the center of the room once you're told to re-inspect the three holes.
The Tomb of Isael Nectary Cellar Map Sims 3
Your Sim will need to collect two heart keystones to bypass the traps near the entrance. Sure, you could use skeleton keystones but you'd miss the opportunity to collect a relic or two and open a couple of doors on the floor below. This place is massive, so I provided the map above to help you locate hidden doors. Two can be revealed by flushing toilets. You'll find a ton of opportunities for mummies in this tomb, toward the end. Find the hidden doors leading to the room at the top of the map, where your Sim can collect the French Signet of the Tomb of Isael relic. While the puzzle in the room near the end of the tomb can be solved by pulling the statue across the large room, then using it to break the traps, before the mummies appear, don't as the staircase there is accessible during the Tomb of Jean Nexteaux, and if you do it can break the quest. While the other statues in the Tomb of Isael should be placed on the floor switches so your Sim has access to hidden doors in Necteaux, the one you come across just before the statue room puzzle should be pulled off, as it prevents collecting tresure in the Tomb of Jean Necteaux.
The Tomb of Jean Necteaux is finally unlocked during the Nectar Research Assistant adventure chain. It's the last stop on the list. This tomb intertwines with that of Isael, so maps get very confusing quickly. You'll eventually find a shortcut to the Tomb of Isael, to activate the doors in this tomb if necessary. The puzzle with all the foot switches is easily solved by finding the point where the statues' gazes intersect. In the room with the jagged bridge and a statue that causes electric traps to appear, find a hidden door behind the traps. This passageway leads to another door and some rubble piles. You'll find some treasure at the end of this path. Your Sim will eventually come to a path that intersects this with Isael's Tomb again, allowing you to disable the traps that were blocking your way there. This leads to a sarcophagus that holds the Nectar Recipe you need, which also disables the floor traps. If you have a skeleton or star keystone check the hidden door behind the sarcophagus to get another relic. Head out and you'll find the Signet of the Tomb of Jean Necteaux in a chest as you also reveal a shortcut out of the tomb.
How to get to the little island in France
Tuatha's Garden: aka The Little Island in France
In order to access this island without cheating or zeneport, you'll need Pangu's Axe. Smash the boulders at the location in the screenshot with the axe, and you'll be greeted with one of the toughest tombs in the game. The first puzzle is tricky, and some have suggested you need a second Sim or a statue that can be assembled in that room. However, it can be accomplished easily by using the darkest green colored statue to activate two of the floor switches at once. It's a whopper of a maze but the trek is largely worth it. There are probably a dozen plants you can harvest inside, including life plants, death flowers, and every variety of rare grape. I did find a couple of relic spawn locations inside. The place is also practically infested with butterflies, and your odds of capturing a glowy fly on the actual island are quite high. Once you've fully unlocked this tomb, you can revisit and look down to the bottom level for the dive well location, then proceed to return to the island for more collecting attempts.
To find the French Signet of Tuatha's Garden, look near the two money trees after your Sim has gone through the dive well. There is a camouflaged floor plate near some green foliage that reveals a hidden door and a staircase. The treasure chest in the floor below contains the Signet.

The Glorious Abu Simbel from the Sims 3 World Adventures' Al Simhara, Egypt
Al Simhara, Egypt is a great place for tomb explorers. It features probably the largest tombs in the game, along with a wide selection to choose from. This is a great place to stop after you've visited China, but don't feel obligated - Egypt is great for first timers, too. Here you can learn snake charming, and purchase the best cameras in the game to pursue thephotography skill.

Egypt's Contributions to the Sims 3 World Adventures

    The Al Simhara, Egypt Marketplace
    Egyptian Shops
  • Bookstore: Sells the New Egyptian Cooking Recipes for Falafel and Shawarma as well as regional novels. You can also find bait books for crocodiles and mummy fish.

  • General Goods: Sells an assortment of cameras. You can also buy a mummified teddy bear. The incense holder for sale here helps your Sim to retain fun, preventing stress. Great for writers!

  • Food Vendor: The food vendor will sell the Egyptian foods Falafel and Shawarma at the appropriate meal times. Additionally you can buy pomegranates and cherries for your Gardening, Cooking or Nectar Making purposes. Otherwise it's just a place to grab a snack. Useful for one of the quests in which you need to serve up some Shawarma.

  • Relic Vendor: Look for canopic jars here, but note the difference between a normal jar and one of the collectibles. You can sometimes find items to fill out your collections here, and some may even be more valuable than the purchase price. It's a bit of a gamble.
    Special Shop
Marked in red on your map will be a special vendor who will sell items that require ancient coins and a set VISA level. The following items are sold in Egypt:

Snake Charming in Al Simhara - Kissing the Cobra
    Snake Charming
Snake charming is a hidden skill learned from the appropriately named snake charming basket. Buy them at the general goods store for a mere $325. This is a small price to pay for a really cool new way to earn tips. As your Sim gets better, they'll eventually be able to put a cobra into the basket, for $1,000 Simoleons) and possibly even grow skilled enough to kiss it on the top of the head, which gives a positive moodlet and can be used to heal the mummy's curse.
    New Fish
Al Simhara brings the crocodile and mummy fish into the mix. Finding either shouldn't be hard, but if you want some fishing spots, check World Adventures fishing spots.

    Notable Egyptian Adventures

There are of course dozens of Adventures in Al Simhara, but I want to highlight some of the ones you just don't want to miss. I won't go into all the minute details of the various steps in these adventure chains, but tell you what ones to take as soon as you see them available:
    Business Abroad
This adventure, the first your Sim is likely to receive, is a long chain with many varying missions. You'll want to at least make it to the sixth step, Into the Fire, to allow your Sim access to the Tomb of the Burning Sands' adventure-only section, where you can get the Sigil. The eighth step will take you to the Ancient Library where you'll find an Ancient Library Sigil as well.
This is a long one but will lead to many visa levels as you approach the varying tasks. A little charisma could help here and there when you're trying to befriend locals and talk to them to gather intel. When you reach Preparing the Bribe, stop and consider collecting more mummitomium while the spots are being highlighted through map view. You can make some great cash while you do other things and let the mummitomium respawn. Move on to wrap up the whole chain and by the time you're done you'll be at or near VISA level 3.
    Cursed!
This opportunity comes up after you've been cursed by a mummy. While it asks you to turn in a relic worth $150 or more, it allows you to turn your Sim's curse into an adventure where they can actually gain some VISA points through the course of unlocking access to the Soulpeace statue.
    Trapped at Home
This is a decent single quest that allows access to a likewise decent tomb located at 7 Marketview Place, which is also mentioned in the Tombs section.
    Tomb Tours
I really like this one for grabbing some fairly quick VISA points. Your Sim will get sent off to various landmarks in a certain order and will get 10 VISA for each of them. At the end, a nice additional +20 will be bestowed along with 1200 simoleons and 200 ancient coins. It's a little time consuming but requires 0 effort on your part and surpasses other adventures in terms of "visa per hour".
    In Search of Love
This is one to watch for. It's the only way to access the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, where a practically guaranteed collectible along with the Sigil of Queen Hatshepsut can be found. I was able to complete the chain up to the point of entering Queen Hatshepsut's Hideout without leaving my view of the adventure board, so the first parts of this chain go fast.

Tombs to Explore in Al Simhara

Many of these tombs are explorable without doing any adventures associated with them. So, you can freelance as an explorer without following any path. However, if you want to make the most of it, you'd might as well do some of the adventures that are associated with these tombs to help raise your VISA level allowing you to stay in Egypt longer and purchase the powerful artifact Tears of Horus from the special vendor. Also, I note tombs that make some use of Pangu's Axe.
Where to find a tiny space rock in Al Simhara, Egypt in the Sims 3 World Adventures
A good spot to find a tiny space rock for entry into Abu Simbel
    Abu Simbel
Entry into Abu Simbel requires an offering. You'll need a tiny space rock (see screenshot at right), along with a relic aged Ancient or older. Once each is placed, you'll be free to explore the tomb. When you reach the point with two paths, red and blue, and you must choose, note the track, statue and switch you can use with Zeneport to move the statue to the switch, revealing a hole in the wall. There you'll find the Sigil of the Sanctuary of Horus, which many have trouble finding. You'll need to make another offering down the line. Try to use something of which you have a duplicate. In order to claim the eyes of horus, which is the focus of this dungeon, you'll need to overcome greed. Donate two figurines to the pedestals in the two rooms that contain the eyes of horus before you take them. If you're stuck, use the teleport cheat.
Further down there is a puzzle that will require you to use both eyes. Fire traps will spew from the ground when you pull a torch on the wall. Use the eyes to teleport so that you can step on either foot switch that appears. Afterward, leave one of the eyes on the ground and collect the other. This will allow your Sim to circumvent the floor traps that spring up when you take Horus' relics.
With the eyes, you can also get the red and blue priest keys by teleporting from room to room after flipping the torches. Going out the doors will reset the wall holes that are revealed.
Once you have the eyes, you can use them to solve the puzzle at the entrance to Al Simbel to get a treasure chest.
The Copper Quarry in the Sims 3 World Adventures
    Copper Quarry
Located on the island in the shot above. You are sent to this place on an adventure, but it's fully explorable as long as you have Pangu's axe and zeneport. Inside you'll find the Sigil of the Copper Quarry along with, of course, tons of copper and other metals and gems.
The Great Pyramid in the Sims 3 World Adventures
    Great Pyramid
The Great Pyramid is massive, and probably the largest tomb in World Adventures. It's however a bit easy to complete, and doesn't require any adventures to clear, but to fully explore it you'll need Pangu's Axe to smash a boulder. With that boulder gone, look for a hidden door along the wall to find an upper level with great treasure and a Sarcophagus of Kings that has a high likelihood of containing a mummy for you to deal with. You don't need Pangu's Axe to get the Sigil here however: The Sigil of the Den of Lost Souls is found toward the end. If you're having trouble finding the Death keystone, look in the patch of light on the ground near the tree where you use the Lodestone Keystone. In that same room, there is a rubble pile that's hard to get to: look for a torch on a wall in the nearby room which can be activated to allow passage.
The Great Sphinx in the Sims 3 World Adventures. Showing the side where the second entrance resides.
    Great Sphinx
You can choose to explore the Great Sphinx before you get cursed by a mummy and this will open up the cleansing ritual for you in the future. However, if you just got cursed and have no other adventure opportunities in Egypt, you'll get an adventure called "Cursed!" which leads you here. This is a great place to find treasure, especially valuable gems. I've found soulpeace and rainbow gems on several occasions. The only part that stumped me here was the location of the Sigil of the Soulpeace Chambers. It's off a hiddden room, then another hidden room beside the room with ten chairs and a coffee table.
There is an alternate basement entrance to the Sphinx. Look near the stairs on the side for a foot switch. It'll reveal a staircase where you can find loads of good relics. It's rather small but I found gems valued at $2,000 Simoleons here along with a relic for one of my collections.
    Pyramid of the Burning Sands
The First half of this pyramid is explorable without an adventure keystone. You can clear the first half to get the Sigil of the Tomb of the rock, then come back later. There's a rather nice treasure room in this pyramid, with 6 chests and a sarcophagus where I did encounter a mummy.
The second part is accessible only after taking up the Into the Fire quest. This will give you the keystone of the Burning Sands which allows entry. The Sigil wasn't even hidden in this place, and found in a simple chest. There are a ton of flame fruit bushes here to harvest for the adventure, and it's a good place to go back to for some plantables later.
The Egyptian Pyramid of the Sky in the Sims 3 World Adventures
    Pyramid of the Sky
This place is fully explorable but not exploitable without Pangu's Axe s three boulders block doors in the pyramid. You'll first need to go to the right side and explore that area to find the Keystone to the Heart of the Water Temple. From there, it's easy to reach the final chamber. There's a harvestable life plant, death flower, money trees and a Sigil of the Tomb of the Desert Ocean to be found here. I've stumbled across a canopic jar here as well. Be sure to check for four hidden doors in the last chamber to find a shortcut out as well as some additional treasure.
    Pyramid of the Wind
This is a small pyramid, and there's no more to it than there seems to be. There's a chest in the entry and three stairwells that lead to treasure. You could encounter a mummy here from the single sarcophagus.
The Temple of Queen Hatshepsut in the Sims 3 World Adventures
    The Temple of Queen Hatshepsut
This place is not even accessible without first reaching key stages in the In Search of Love adventure chain. You'll eventually get both keys. Unfortunately, the place doesn't have great treasure but is home to a sigil and perhaps other relics for your collection. The entrance can be hard to spot: it's on the left side when you're looking at the temple. You'll need to walk up the small staircase there to reveal the inside, which is very open save for two rooms with keystone holes. If you get stuck in the Servant's Quarters section, look for two hidden doors in the last two bedrooms of the long hall. Gives the Sigil of Queen Hatshepsut.
    Tomb of Discovery
The Tomb of Discovery is the first place you'll go after accepting the Business Abroad quest line. I did find a canopic jar in here, as well as the Sigil of the Tomb of Discovery behind a hidden wall. It's overall a very easy place and a nice introductory tomb to learn about puzzles, just like in the other countries.
Map showing Ancient Library, Vaughn's Command Center, Trapped at Home in the Sims 3 World Adventures
A: 20 West Riverview Place - The Ancient Library
It's in a home and can be accessed by searching the hole near the center of the house. Your Sim is directed here on step eight of the Business Abroad quest line. It's home to the Sigil of the Ancient Library. You can get inside before the quest by asking to be let in then doing as above. The Sigil is very easy to find as the tomb is small. You'll likely find another relic for your collection here as well.
    B: 7 Marketview Place
This place is only fully explorable with Pangu's Axe, but there's nothing incredible here anyway. It's just yet another tomb to clear. You are directed here with the Trapped at Home adventure, which is probably the only time you'll visit it. Return with the Axe to search for goodies later.
    C: 1 Quarry View Place
This is James Vaughn's Command Center, where you can find a Sigil of the same name. You'll be directed here through the continuation of the quest line that begins with Nefarious Intentions. The puzzles in this place can be confusing, but the solution is surprisingly simple. There are three codes to be found in the house: one in a bookcase, one from the toilet and another from the stereo. These will provide the passcodes to the floors below, which can be viewed like a telephone key pad, with the switches nearest the doors 1-3 et cetera.
    D: Criminal Headquarters
This place is accessed far down the Business Abroad adventure chain. You can get the Sigil of the Criminal headquarters here, in a chest at the end of the tomb.
  • WORLD ADVENTURE : CHINA

The Sims 3 China World Adventures Guide

Adventures, Tombs, Shops, and Relics in Shang Simla

    China Panorama
Shang Simla, China is a great place for Simmers to start traveling the world with the Sims 3 World Adventures expansion pack. It's the home of Martial Arts, features a great skill-boosting incense holder Sims can buy, and an artifact can be purchased that will give your Sim a boost in all ancient coins gained. From my experiences it has had the easiest dungeons of all the locations, save a couple of the more trap-laden tombs here. It's a great place to start, and one of its adventures will send your Sim to France where they can begin earning VISA points there while tracking down all the relics for China.

China's Contributions to The Sims 3 World Adventures

The Sims 3 World Adventures Shang Simla, China: Market
    Chinese Shops
  • Bookstore: Sells a variety of region-specific novels. Additionally, the New China Cooking recipes for egg rolls and stir fry are sold here. There's also bait books for koi fishermen and a Martial Arts skill book.

  • General Goods: Sells the Chinese incense holder which will increase your Sim's skill gains while they're in a room with it lit. Additionally, the Martial Arts training dummies and block breakers can be bought here. Of course there's the usual dried food, tents, shower in the can and other items. Note that this store is up one level from the others which can make it hard to spot. Push page up if you're having trouble seeing it.

  • Food Vendor: Sells plums and pomelos for use in CookingGardening or Nectar Making. You can also find stir fry and egg roll dishes for sale at the appropriate meal times.

  • Relic Vendor: Visit this place often for help filling out your Sim's relic collections. Sometimes you can find very valuable artifacts here, but keep in mind that you can find them out in the world free of charge.

    Martial Arts
China features several adventures that rely on the new skill it introduces to the game,Martial Arts. Follow the link to learn more about this skill. Pursuing mastery of Martial Arts is recommended for any Sim who is going to adventure a lot.
    Collecting
China brings a lot of new stuff for collecting. There are new red assassin bugsBamboo Straight Swift Butterflies and Yellow Band Dart ButterfliesJade and Lapis Lazuli and other gems, and mercury and platinum metals. To help you in your collecting efforts, I've provided a set of World Adventures Collecting Maps.

Notable Adventures to Do in China

First note I have a growing list of World Adventures Tips. There are of course dozens of Adventures in Shang Simla, but I want to highlight some of the ones you just don't want to miss. I won't go into all the minute details of the various steps in these adventure chains, but tell you what ones to take as soon as you see them available:
    Seeking Adventure
The first chain you can do. If you want to be able to smash boulders later, you'll need to do this and a couple others to allow you to pick up. I had no luck getting this adventure to appear from the board when I was repeatedly canceling them until I had completed the Tomb of Discovery. It seems you always start with the same five, but since you'll get visa points from any of those ultra-easy adventures, knock them out and don't look back. This also allows access to Halls of the Lost Army.
    Constructing the Dragon Emperor Mini
A good one to eliminate early, as it offers fast and easy VISA points. The final quest in the line here will send your Sim looking for Red Assassin Bugs, which are very high value. You can spend a little time having your Sim gather extra bugs before you turn in the adventure and make thousands of Simoleons. This can go a long way toward funding future adventures.
    Potent Signs of Potential
This adventure chain is very good for any Sim who is going to learn Martial Arts. Other Sims will need to do it to access the Resolute Fist Retreat for the Symbol there. When you get to the step in the chain where your Sim must spar, try to spar with the target Sim a few more times. Later, you'll need to meditate for a few hours at the Scholar's Garden and that requires level 5 martial arts to accomplish. If you want to save time, pick this one up before your Sim's vacation is over and pursue the Martial Arts levels while they're at home in between adventures.
    Confounded Boulder!
This adventure chain leads to your Sim getting Pangu's Axe. Follow the link for more information on this object and earning it. This sequence of quests is very important in that it will allow your Sim to clear boulders in tombs all over the travel destinations in World Adventures. For those interested in the China tombs relic collection, it also leads to the Symbol of the Hot Springs Cave.
    A Curious Note
This line unlocks Dong Huo's Treasure Trove under the Shang Simla Market. It also leads to the Market Caverns where you'll find the keystone. Both of these tombs have a Symbol associated, and there are some nice items to be found. This is also a rather short chain and provides great VISA points to push your Sim toward level 3.
    Assisting an Elder
This short adventure chain will lead to your Sim being able to fully explore the area under the Terracotta Army, known as the Tomb of the First Emperor. Again, good for completing the Chinese Tombs collection because it leads to a Symbol of the Tomb of the First Emperor.
    Knowledge of the Past
This adventure starts a very long chain that leads your Sim to France and eventually Chateau du Landgraab. Upon returning from France with the keystone to enter the Dragon's Maw (aka Temple of the Dragon), your Sim must reach level 10 of Martial Arts, break a space rock block and win a ranked sparring match to then take on Dong Huo. This one can be very long. Thankfully you will have enough time in France to complete the section of Chateau du Landgraab. Get inside the area and head to the Landgraab Cellar key door, which is oddly enough found in the tower accessible from the ground floor. There aren't any hard puzzles once inside the cellar area, but keep an eye out for hidden doors. Clearing this area will lead your Sim to a back exit and a great nectar cellar area where you can collect every type of grape. It's worth grabbing them if your Sim is a gardener or nectar maker. Along the way, keep an eye out for the Signet of Chateau du Landgraab, part of the French tombs collection.
Note that as of the time of this writing my Sim did not need to become Grand Master as the adventure's text implied, rather he won a single sparring match. This could be bugged.

Tombs to Explore in Shang Simla, China

The Sims 3 World Adventures Shang Simla, China: Dong Huo's Treasure Trove at the Marketplace
    Dong Huo's Treasure Trove
Only accessible during the 'A Curious Note' adventure line after exploring the Market Caverns and finding Dong Huo's Keystone, the Treasure Trove is appropriately heavy on the goodies. I found a total of three vases from the Chinese Vases collection, a Dropa Stone, along with a Symbol of Dong Huo's Treasure Trove behind a hidden door after pushing the red statue down a hallway. To get through this place you'll need four keystones that are scattered around the tomb. Upon finding all four, head to the final treasure room. Look for the switch behind the throne for an alternate exit.
The Sims 3 World Adventures Shang Simla, China: The Dragon's Maw Entrance
    The Dragon's Maw
This tomb is only partially explorable without doing adventures. In order to explore it fully, you'll need the Keystone of the Dragon, which is acquired through a rather long quest chain that inolves a trip to France. See the Notable China Adventures section for 'Knowledge of the Past' to learn more. This place is the tomb of Dong Huo and his mummy resides at its lowest level. There are many hidden doors in this place concealing multiple nice treasures. Stumbling across the Symbol of the Temple of the Dragon should be no trouble at all.
    Halls of the Lost Army
This tomb is only accessible if you accept the first pair of adventures, starting with 'Seeking Adventure', as they provide the required Keystone of the Neophyte. You'll want to do this as it's the only way to get the Symbol of the Halls of the Lost Army, a part of the Chinese Tombs collection. The symbol is easily found at the end of the tomb.
    Hot Springs Cave
At the top of the hot springs area, there's a boulder which can be smashed allowing access to a dive well. You're sent here after obtaining Pangu's Axe. In the final treasure chest, your Sim will receive the Symbol of the Hot Springs Cave. The puzzles here shouldn't give you too much trouble, and the tomb is rather small.
The Sims 3 World Adventures Shang Simla, China: The entrance behind the Marketplace leading to the Market Caverns
    Market Caverns
You can explore this tomb any time, but the Dong Huo keystone will only be present if you are currently pursing the 'A Curious Note' adventure line. Access the Market Caverns by using the hole switch behind the market proper. You'll likely find a couple of relics for your collections in here. Look to the final treasure room, past the keystone door, for a hidden room. Inside you'll find the Chinese Symbol of the Market Caverns.
    Resolute Fist Retreat
Explorable during the Potent Signs of Potential adventure chain. Your Sim will need to learn Martial Arts to enter this place. If you want to complete the relic collections, you'll have to do this. Thankfully Zeneport and Tranquil Transference come in handy during tomb raiding so it's not a waste of your Sim's time at all. There are numerous artifacts to be found here, the only unique one being the Symbol of the Resolute Fist Retreat, which is found after the flame hallway in a hidden room near the final treasure chamber. You may need to do some backtracking to get there as there are multiple paths that lead to the last room. But then, you should usually be trying to clear tombs of all treasure anyway, right?
The Sims 3 World Adventures Shang Simla, China: The Temple of Heaven
    Temple of Heaven
The entrance to the Temple of Heaven is through one of the two small buildings in the complex. The first area you'll be able to access is unlocked through the Confounded Boulder! adventure line which leads to the Keystone of Pangu. This section is home to Pangu's Axe, and should be something you try to unlock early so that your Sim gains full benefit of ownership of the Axe. The Symbol of Pangu's Haven can be found through a hidden door near the stairwell with a table and candles blocking your Sim's progress. Look around in that area with the walls up to find the section of wall you can inspect.
The second part is unlocked by starting the 'In the Aid of Monks' adventure chain. You'll be able to explore a little further using the Temple of Heaven Keystone, but will need to fashion yet another keystone to make it all the way to the end. The final treasure room here holds a couple of relics for your collection and a Symbol of the Annex of the Resolute Fist.
The Sims 3 World Adventures Shang Simla, China: The Terra Cotta Army
Terracotta Army - Tomb of the First Emperor
Access this area by accepting the Assisting an Elder adventure. In case you overlook it, the entrance is actually at the bottom of the hill, through a staircase. Inside, there are mummies so having some mummy snacks or Martial Arts skill will help to prevent getting cursed. The key to the Innermost Chambers is found after the room with many traps and a pushable statue. Try to move the statue to the middle switch along the far wall in order to unlock the stairwell there. In the final treasure room, you'll find the Symbol of the Tomb of the First Emperor along with the Dragon Spear your Sim seeks.

Pushing statues to the appropriate spot is one of the many dungeon puzzles you'll encounter in the Sims 3 World Adventures
    The Main Feature: Travel
The biggest addition to The Sims 3 brought by World Adventures is the ability to travel to three destinations in the world. This feature acts a bit like a vacation. You'll go home after a set amount of days based on your traveling Sims' combined VISA levels. These VISA points add up and eventually unlock new levels. Having a higher level, combined with lifetime rewards and certificates of partnership with those countries will eventually extend the time frame you can stay in a country from three days to a full eighteen with a single Sim. Other members of your Sim's family who come along will also add their travel days to the tally, bringing it up to a potential of 72 days in a foreign land.
    The New Travel Destinations
Simmers can travel to three places from around the world. In travel destinations, you can meet with the locals and form new friendships, experience an entirely different map to explore and pursue adventures. There is a specific skill associated with each area, which will be detailed in their associated guides. The new locations are:
    • Al Simhara, Egypt - This place sells the best cameras in the game and is the unofficial "home" of the new Photography skill because of this. This place features the most challenging adventures in the game for some Sims, because there are mummies inside which can put a deadly curse on your Sim.
    • Champs Les Sims, France - Here Sims can learn to make nectar. Nectar Making allows Sims to brew drinks to serve at parties or to themselves, which give a nice mood boost when consumed. France has a beautiful countryside setting and features some unique dungeons to explore.
    • Shang Simla, China - Home to Martial Arts, a new skill that works with the athletic skill to improve a Sim's fighting ability. It's the only place to get started in this popular skill. There are some neat sites to see, such as the Terracotta Army and the Dragon Cave.
Check back later, a full list of what the shopkeepers offer in each destination will be detailed, along with some general information on the sites you can visit while vacationing.
The dungeons in the Sims 3's World Adventures can be huge, but easy to navigate.
    Adventures
In each location you can visit, there is an adventure board outside the base camp. This behaves a lot like the opportunities in the normal game, but you'll be allowed one extra slot for each location giving you the ability to take up a mission in each. Adventures can be as simple as collecting a certain material and returning it to the quest giver, talking to some of the locals to convince them of another Sim's opinion or as complex as doing some tomb raiding and exploring one of the expansion's many dungeons.
You'll earn VISA points and ancient coins, as well as Simoleons from completing these tasks. Often, you'll be asked to go into a dungeon and search it for a missing artifact. These can come in the form of collectible item sets, ancient relics and fragments that can be assembled for place on your home lot. For example, get enough sarcophagus fragments and you can build a sarcophagus back at home that will allow your Sim to sleep like an Egyptian King.
Every Location has a general store where you can purchase supplies for adventuring. New items like dried food, the shower in a can and a variety of different quality tents make sleeping and surviving in a dungeon much easier to accomplish. The general stores are always located in that town's market area, so look for it on your map.
As you accumulate more ancient coins, and raise your Sim's visa level in that destination, you'll gradually be able to purchase new items in the special store. Some are quite powerful. One actually reveals all the locations of excavation sites on the map for your Sim so they can easier find them and line their pockets with riches and ancient relics for their collections.
Pushing statues to appropriate spots is one of the many puzzles you'll encounter in the Sims 3 World Adventures' dungeons.
    Dungeons
Inside dungeons, your Sims will encounter traps, puzzles and even mummies. None of the puzzles are too challenging, but some might require a little thinking ahead to be done right. In short you'll be looking around more often and paying attention to the new rooms you unlock, looking for hidden switches and floor traps. Most of the dungeons are fairly linear, and can be completed quickly. Some will find this a welcome addition, as it's often satisfying when you unlock that door to the next room.
Inside you'll find some of the best new additions. Some dungeons are much larger than others and feature many many items. Keep an eye out for ancient coins on the ground and look for collectible jars and other relics of the past which can be very valuable. You can sell them or form a collection to display at home. It's exciting when you discover a new relic that's worth a sizable amount of money. This makes adventuring a viable way to make money in the game. True adventurers will be really annoyed when they have to go home for a couple days in between trips and may find themselves looking for something to do.
Old Skills' Involvement in World Adventures
Thankfully, if your Sim is stuck at home in between adventures there's still plenty to do. Work on the old skills, namelyfishing, cooking and charisma, in order to get new options when adventuring. It'll help a lot when you're tasked to convince villagers or fish for a particular catch if your Sim is already skilled in those areas. You'll also need a way to make money quickly if you want to be able to afford all those trips. The base price for a 3 day stay starts at $1300 for for China, $1600 for Egypt and $1900 for France. There is a nice discount for longer trips as you improve the VISA level. The new jetsetter lifetime reward provides a discount of around 20% for all trips.
Nectar Making, one of the new skills in the Sims 3 World Adventures
The New Skills in World Adventures
    • Martial Arts - Learned in China. This skill will make your Sim a powerful fighter. You'll beat up mummies and other Sims with ease once it's mastered. The skill also allows you to meditate, which gives a meditative focus moodlet. This moodlet boosts skill gains and flat makes the Sim better at everything they do. Achieve mastery of meditation and your Sim can teleport, further pursue challenges related to martial arts and you may one day be able to use the ultra-powerful tranquil transference ability, meaning a meditative master need never own the personal teleporter to get around quickly.
    • Nectar Making - Learned in France. Gardeners and master chefs will love this. You can take produce from the garden and turn it into a passive form of income. Nectar can be aged and can rack up a tidy sum pretty quickly if you allow the bottles time to generate value. It's just one more reason to take up the great gardening skill. The grapes in France will help to offer you more options to growing plants, to boot. Other destinations also have new fruits that can be grown which will give you a grand total of ten new plants to raise to perfect.
    • Photography - Primarily in Egypt. While you can buy a Snaptastic Flimsy Cam in any of the locations, Egypt's general store sells the very best 2 models. There are a lot of subjects to capture if your Sim keeps their camera on them at all times. Read up on my guide to getting started in this skill before you take it on. In short, Photography is not an amazing money maker at first but provides some additional income to early level adventurers who need every bit of money they can get.
    New Lifetime Wishes and Traits
There are 8 new lifetime wishes to be pursued with the World Adventures expansion. They're all related in some way to the new skills. Your Sim might want to master both martial arts and athletics, or even secure level 3 VISAs in all three countries. Maybe they'd like to have an excellent wine collection. This adds a lot more replayability to a game that's already chock full of good challenges to take one.
There are of course new traits to augment the new skills and travel itself. Sims with the Adventurous trait will experience less downtime in between adventures and be happiest when they are off exploring the exotic destinations. Disciplined Sims will find Martial Arts an easy skill to master, and be better at it in general. Photographer's Eye will increase the rate a Sim learns Photography and create higher quality pictures they can sell. There doesn't seem to be any trait for Nectar Making, although gardening is always a good to accompany this skill, as Green Thumbs will raise perfect plants faster than other Sims, making some very fine Nectar indeed.
Snakes come out of a hole, scaring a Sim in World Adventures
The old traits will also see some extra use. Brave Sims and Daredevils will do better while adventuring for example. It might not hurt to explore some other combinations to see just how they can help your Sim in their Adventure.
    New Lifetime Rewards
Something I was sorely hoping for in this expansion pack was new options to spend my Lifetime Happiness Points. Thankfully, the expansion delivered nicely. There are a total of 11 new rewards Sims can buy from all price ranges. Many will be happy to see that the fun and energy needs are easier to satisfy with a couple of them. Sims can learn to become prepared travelers and be allowed to spend more time in each destination, also. You'll also find a reward called no bills, ever which is definitely worth purchasing as your Sim will need to spend more and more money per week in bills as they accumulate a massive stash of relics to decorate the home with.
    New Objects for the Home
There are dozens of new items for the home in World Adventures. Simmers who like decorating won't be disappointed with the new additions. There is also a fortune cookie machine (from China) which Sims can use. If they get a good fortune, they'll be happy. Handy Sims can even modify this machine to always give good fortunes! Great for a quick snack before work.
The expansion also adds a new hidden skill, Snake Charming. Read the Al Simhara Guide to learn more. It can remove themummy's curse preventing a Sim's death and saving them a trip to the Great Sphinx to remove it.
New Build Mode Cheats: Tomb Creation
You can now create tombs using a cheat in build mode that will allow you to access hidden items. Check our guide toTomb Creation to learn more!
Excavating in the Sims 3 World Adventures to find relics and other hidden treasures.
    Additions to Existing Skills
There's a ton of new content out there for players who love the fishingcollectingcooking and gardening skills. There are several new types of gems, gem cuts, and metals like Mummitomium. Players who find the rare tiberium rocks can save them until they turn radioactive and sell them for a hefty sum. Frogs, Crawfish, Crocodiles, Mummy Fish, Dragon Fish and Koi are all caught out in the world. Recipes for each region have been added to the recipe book.
All these changes to existing skills have led to tweaks in the way the challenges for those skills work. For example, at one time you needed to catch all fish in the game for one fishing challenge. Now you need catch only 20 of those types. This isn't hard, but most of these challenges will require your Sim to travel to one of the new locations to find the next new thing. This is good, as it lends a more adventurous tone to the world with plenty of exploration to be done.
